Biomods replace the upgrade modules from the original Subnautica. They give you biological abilities — some active (triggered), some passive (always on). Unlocked by progressing through the story.
Dash
Active — 8s cooldown
Burst of speed to dodge predators or escape tight spaces. Lasts ~1s.
Unlock: Complete Welcome Center power sequence
Oxygen Control
Passive — Always active
Reduces oxygen consumption while stationary. Critical for deep dives where every breath counts.
Unlock: First Black Box scan in Chapter 1
Heat Resistance
Passive — Unlocks at specific zones
Allows entry into high-temperature areas (thermal vents, magma zones). Required for several story objectives.
Unlock: Complete Bloom Canker purification at Wander signal
Digest
Passive — Always active
Makes alien fish actually nutritious. Without this, fish only give water — not food value. Essential for long-term survival.
Unlock: Interact with Angel Comb (~160m NE of pod)
Thermal Vision
Active — 15s cooldown
See heat signatures through walls and darkness. Useful for navigating caves and spotting predators.
Unlock: Chapter 2 — Ancient Ruins exploration
Pressure Adaptation
Passive — Zone-restricted
Survive deep ocean pressure zones. Required for the deepest biomes (~400m+).
Unlock: Complete Chapter 3 objectives
